Colgate Toothpaste Product Review

Product Review of Colgate Toothpastes

Deciding on dental health products can be tricky. There are so many options to choose from. Walking down that aisle can be overwhelming.

In this post, we will look at the Colgate line of toothpastes. Even within this one brand, there are dozens of options from which to choose. Below, we have broken these up by category, as best we can (most of the toothpastes overlap in what they offer), to help you pick out the toothpaste that will be most beneficial to your dental health.

Following the toothpaste categories and descriptions, you’ll find a quick review of three of these toothpastes that I chose.

Below is a list of the different Colgate toothpastes with some of their advertised features:

Trying Colgate Toothpastes: Product Review

Based on the descriptions above, I picked out three of these toothpastes that I thought would be a good fit for my dental care needs and tested each one over a period of 4 days. Most of these toothpastes recommend a two-week trial, so keep that in mind as you read my reviews. It is quite possible more results could come about after a longer period of time.

I have sensitive teeth. Therefore, I chose a couple of toothpastes that advertise strengthening tooth enamel and helping with sensitive teeth. I would also like a whiter smile, so I tried a toothpaste that had those features, as well.

Enamel Health Toothpaste

Colgate Enamel HealthColgate’s Enamel Health Toothpaste benefits include:

  • Replenishes natural calcium
  • Whitens teeth
  • Gently polishes
  • Fights cavities
  • Freshens breath

Colgate recommends you use this toothpaste twice daily for at least two weeks to see results.

Due to some time constraints, I was unable to use this for the recommended two weeks. However, I did use it twice daily for 4 days to see how I liked the toothpaste. Here’s what I found:

Pros

  • Flavor was good. Not too strong

Cons

  • Paste was a little thick, even using recommended amount (pea-sized dab)
  • Didn’t get that freshness feeling other toothpaste options gave, probably because of the thickness (maybe that’s a part of strengthening the enamel)
  • Didn’t notice a difference in teeth sensitivity (may need to use the paste longer to gain results)

Verdict = Not the toothpaste for me

Sensitive Toothpaste (Maximum Strength)

IMG_20161014_115639295 (1)Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste (Maximum Strength) benefits include:

  •  Offers sensitivity relief

Colgate notes that with continued use, you’ll experience long-lasting relief from hypersensitivity.

I only used this toothpaste twice daily for 4 days, but unlike Enamel Health, I started to see results.

Pros

  • Flavor was good. Not too strong
  • Consistency was just right; not too thick
  • Started to relieve tooth sensitivity

Cons

  • Could have a stronger flavor for fresher breath

Verdict = I may continue using this toothpaste to relieve my tooth sensitivity

Colgate MaxFresh with Mini Breath Strips (with Whitening)

Colgate MaxFresh

What’s funny about this one is that when I first started writing this product review and researched all of the Colgate toothpastes out there, I saw this and thought, “Wow, what a funny name for a toothpaste. And it’s kind of a mouthful, too.” Come to find out, this is the toothpaste I have been using for the past couple of months. After writing this product review, I now realize I need to pay attention to the toothpaste I’m using and be willing to try out different kinds to find the best one for my teeth.

Colgate MaxFresh with Mini Breath Strips (with Whitening) benefits include:

  • Fights cavities with fluoride formula
  • Whitens teeth
  • Freshens bad breath
  • Sugar free
  • Gluten free

Colgate doesn’t specify how long you should use this toothpaste to see results, but by the looks of the rest of their products, my guess is that the 2-week daily use rule applies to all.

As mentioned above, I’ve used this toothpaste for a while (a couple of months). Here’s what I found:

Pros

  • Strong flavor
  • Freshens breath

Cons

  • Haven’t noticed much improvement in whitening teeth

Verdict = I may look for another Colgate whitening toothpaste that shows better results. There are a lot to choose from

Conclusion

What should you take away from this? It’s important to read the product details for the toothpaste you choose. There could be a better toothpaste for your specific dental care needs that you haven’t even found yet. Look through these products and choose a few toothpastes to try. Try them for the recommended allotment of time to figure out which one does the best for your dental health.

What kind of toothpaste do you use? Leave it in the comments below with its benefits and how you’ve liked using it.
