Helpful Dental Resources

If you want more information about different procedures or dentists but don’t know where to start, these websites can help you find a dentist or provide reviews from actual patients.

  • Dr. Oogle – Select your city and read thorough reviews on each dentist from patients and other dental professionals. Remember, though, that reviews can often be skewed. Out of all the patients at a dentist’s office, the one person who was dissatisfied might be the only one to actually leave a review.  Also, reviews with specifics should be valued more highly. “They made me wait forever” might just be an annoyed person who waited for 5 minutes, whereas “They made me wait 45 minutes” might actually be cause for concern. Conversely, it’s also not helpful if there are several reviews with nothing but “She’s great” with no specifics. Read them with an open mind, and evaluate whether the person’s comment seems valid.
  • About.com – Bring this thorough list of questions along when visiting prospective dentists if you’re in the market for a new one. The questions in this guide will help you learn everything you need to know about that dentist’s procedures, credibility, financing, insurance policies, etc. to make an informed decision.
  • Cost Helper – If you want to find out what it might cost for a certain dental procedure, check out this website. Simply type in the procedure, and it will break down the typical cost for you and even include what factors might cause it to vary. Even so, remember that prices can vary greatly based on where you live and which dentist you visit. This website simply gives you a general idea of what to expect. It also does not factor in the possibility of having insurance or a discount plan.

The year is quickly coming to an end, and 2011 will be here soon. Use these resources to help you find the best plan at the best value with the best dentists for healthy teeth all year long.
