A Routine Children’s Dental Visit: 6-Month Cleaning and Exam

Dentists recommend bringing children for their first dental visit 6 months after they get their first teeth or by age one. Routine visits would begin 6 months after that first visit. A routine children’s dental visit may look similar to the bill below using the Careington 500 plan.

The prices above are for a general dentist. That is where you will see the most savings with your plan. Pediatric dentists in our provider network--dentists who specialize in children’s dental health--give a 20% discount off prices listed, not the discounts you see above.

An additional fee you might see on a child’s dental bill for a routine checkup are space maintainers (ADA codes: 1510 - 1525). Space maintainers can be placed in a child’s mouth in the empty spaces where baby teeth have fallen out. The maintainers keep those spaces open so permanent teeth can come into place.

Specialists are anyone beyond a general dentist. They specialize in the areas given. For example, a pediatric dentist specializes in children’s dental care.
