You can see a participating dentist anywhere in the country, so you’re not locked in to one place or dentist. This just helps us make sure we help you pick a plan that has a good network near you!

Here are some common ways your dentist may allow you to use a dental savings plan to supplement your insurance policy:
Please note that dental offices may not allow you to use both an insurance plan and a 1Dental plan on the same procedure or visit. Also, please make sure that the dentist you choose accepts both your insurance plan and your 1Dental plan.
If you don’t see a dental procedure on the full savings list, you still receive 20% off.
Your savings only apply at in-network dentists because these dentists have agreed to the savings list and also passed Careington’s thorough approval process. We want to make sure you are able to save money at a dentist you can trust.
Every dental plan has a network to some degree (and in our experience, plans with “out-of-network benefits” end up costing more than they save).
If you would like to nominate a dentist who isn’t currently in the network, please use our dentist referral form so we can reach out to them.
We do our best to keep an up-to-date list of dentists on our website, but we always recommend double checking when you call to make your appointment.
Today! Signing up only takes a few minutes.
Yes! Your 1Dental plan automatically includes an EyeMed vision plan. Save 20-40% on the retail price of eyewear and 15% on contact lenses at thousands of locations nationwide, including Target, Pearle Vision, LensCrafters and many local opticians. Learn more
Absolutely! In fact, dental savings plans are one of the best ways to save money on implants. With the Care 500, you save 20% no matter how many implants you get. In contrast, traditional insurance usually does not give any savings on implants and other work that the ADA has labeled “cosmetic.”
The Careington Care 500 plan saves an automatic 20% on children’s and adult braces. It also saves 20% on any other work performed by a dental specialist (including orthodontists, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, endodontists, and pediatric dentists). Please note that these savings do not apply if work is already in progress.
Sometimes wisdom teeth can be removed by your general dentist (this would be a normal “simple extraction”), but if they are impacted, an oral surgeon will usually need to perform the work. You will still save 20% at an oral surgeon.
We love Invisalign! A lot of us have used it ourselves. It’s a great product. However, it’s a product that your dentist sells, not a procedure recognized by the American Dental Association. Therefore, 1Dental plans don’t save you money on it, and we have yet to find a plan that does. (But 1Dental plans still save you money on traditional braces!)
Check that the procedure you’re getting matches the ADA code next to the name of the procedure on the full price list. The Care 500 fee schedule includes about 95% of the most common dental procedures, but if the dentist recommends a procedure with an ADA code you don’t see listed, you still get 20% off. Also, if their original price is less expensive than the Care 500 discounted price, you get an additional 20% off! You really can’t lose with this plan.
You can also take a list of the prices with you when you go in for your dental visit or pull them up on your phone. If there is any confusion, you or the dentist can call us to clarify.

Each dentist has a different price list, so we took averages from Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Orlando to give you an idea of what you’ll save at both general dentists and specialists.

*The select regional average cost represents the average fees for the procedures listed above in Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago and New York City, as displayed in the cost of care tool as of June 2018.
**Actual costs and savings may vary by provider, service and geographic location. We use the average of negotiated fees from participating providers to determine the average costs, as shown on the chart.
This is NOT INSURANCE. Participants must pay health care providers directly.
Actual discounts will vary based on the geographic location of the dental provider and the services provided.
Careington International Corporation provides access to the Aetna Dental Access® network, which is administered by Aetna Life Insurance Company (ALIC). ALIC does not offer or administer the Careington discount program, and is not an affiliate, agent or principal of Careington. Dental providers are independent contractors and not employees or agents of ALIC. ALIC does not provide dental care and is not responsible for outcomes.

No. Dental Access is a dental savings plan that uses the Aetna Dental Access network. Members get unlimited access to lower prices and don’t have deductibles, maximums, or waiting periods.
Even though each dentist contracts with Aetna individually, you still save 15-50% on every procedure. Whether you just get your 6-month checkups or need major work during the year, members easily save more than the cost of membership. We’ve provided average savings above, but for exact pricing, you can check with your dentist before your first visit. Pricing will also vary between general dentists and specialists.
Specialists (endodontists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, pediatric dentists, etc.) are usually more expensive because they have received advanced training in their area of expertise. Although 15% is the minimum, there may be times when your savings range is 15-50% at specialists.
Through the Aetna Dental Access network, members can save 15% to 50% on all kinds of wisdom tooth removal. Exact savings depend on the type of extraction involved and whether your general dentist or your oral surgeon is doing the work (oral surgeons are more expensive and perform more complicated extractions, so savings typically run closer to 15%).
Absolutely! In fact, dental savings plans are one of the best ways to save money on implants. You save at least 15% no matter how many dental implants you get. In contrast, traditional insurance usually does not give any savings on implants and other work that the ADA has labeled “cosmetic.”
With the Aetna Dental Access Plan, you will save at least 15% through our network providers. This includes children and adults, and there are no waiting periods. Please note that these savings do not apply if work on the braces has already begun.
We love Invisalign! A lot of us have used it ourselves. It’s a great product. However, Invisalign is an orthodontic product your dentist sells, not a procedure recognized by the American Dental Association. Therefore, 1Dental plans don’t save you money on it, and we have yet to find a plan that does. (But 1Dental plans still save you money on traditional braces!)
We’ve had (and sold) plans with “free” cleanings before. They cost around 3x what 1Dental plans cost. We realized we save more overall by getting a lower-cost 1Dental plan that discounts the cleanings instead! See how one customer saved more money with 1Dental than with insurance
We want to make sure you are getting great savings at dentists you can trust, so you will only receive savings at dentists who have been approved to be in the Aetna Dental Access network and agreed to the savings ahead of time.
Every dental plan has a network to some degree (and in our experience, the plans with “out-of-network” benefits end up costing more than they save). Using a dentist inside the Aetna Dental Access network ensures that you get these lower rates. Other dentists are not under contract to give you these savings.
We do our best to keep an up-to-date list of dentists on our website, but we always recommend double checking when you call to make your appointment.
Pro tip: Some dentists might know the Aetna Dental Access network by the name “Aetna’s discount plan” or “Aetna’s savings plan.” If they don’t recognize the term “Dental Access,” you can try using one of those terms. If there’s any confusion, remember we are here to help!
Yes! Your 1Dental plan automatically includes an EyeMed vision plan. Save 20-40% on the retail price of eyewear and 15% on contact lenses at thousands of locations nationwide, including Target, Pearle Vision, LensCrafters and many local opticians. Learn more

Learn more
It takes about a week for your card to arrive in the mail, but if you’re in a hurry and your dentist is okay with it, we can give you your member number over the phone.

“The office that I went to gave me the same negotiated rate as Aetna dental insurance, saving me $600.”
“My wife just got two wisdom teeth removed today with an oral surgeon. The original bill would have been $1400, and with the Dental Access plan it was $533.”

“A great economical supplement for retirees to consider for dental and vision discounts.”
“I used the Aetna Dental Access Plan when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. I saved over $1000 dollars.”

“Some of my family members recommended the plan to me. I chose the Aetna Dental Access Plan for good savings with my current dentist!”
“As a senior who lost dental insurance after I retired, I was so happy to find out that there was a dental plan like this! The representative I spoke with was so helpful. He answered all my questions, gave me additional information and was very patient and respectful towards me.”
“Before, to take 4 wisdom teeth I would have had to pay $2500. With this plan I paid $1677. And no waiting! Had it done in 12 days after signing up.”

Please note that these savings do not apply if work is already in progress.
Sometimes wisdom teeth can be removed by your general dentist (this would be a normal “simple extraction”), but if they are impacted, an oral surgeon will usually need to perform the work. You will still save 20% at an oral surgeon.

However, Invisalign is an orthodontic product your dentist sells, not a procedure recognized by the American Dental Association.
Learn more
It takes about a week for your card to arrive in the mail, but if you’re in a hurry and your dentist is okay with it, we can give you your member number over the phone.

During a periodic oral exam (ADA Code 0120), the dentist or hygienist will check for cavities and gum disease. Dentists recommend a periodic oral exam every 6 months, but the dentist might perform a different kind of exam if you’re a new patient or are being seen for a specific dental issue. For more kinds of oral exams, click the full list of procedures below.
There are many kinds of X-rays, but a full mouth X-ray (ADA Code 0210) is usually reserved for patients who are new or have not visited the dentist in a few years.
During a cleaning, also known as prophylaxis (ADA Code 1110), the hygienist removes plaque and tartar from your teeth to prevent cavities and gum disease.
There are many kinds of fillings, but this example is for a one-surface white filling on a front tooth (ADA Code 2330).
Also known as a “numb-and-pull” extraction, a simple extraction does not require surgery. The dentist can simply numb the area with local anesthesia and pull the tooth.
There are many kinds of dentures, and some are built to last longer than others. This example is for a standard denture (ADA Code 5110 for top or 5120 for bottom).
