Partial Dentures

If some of your teeth can be saved, you may only need partial dentures instead of complete dentures. Your dentist will be able to tell you what he/she recommends.

There are two kinds of partial dentures - resin-base dentures (white) and resin-base dentures with a metal framework. The metal framework offers the following benefits:

  • Can be cast (made from dental impression) more accurately.
  • Will not distort as time goes on. It will retain its form.
  • Naturally cleaner than resin base.
  • No need for posterior palatal seal (made to maintain contact with mucosa in the mouth)

Below you’ll see two sample bills for partial dentures using the Careington Care 500 plan. The first shows a partial denture for the upper jaw (resin-base only).

The condition of your remaining teeth will determine whether you need one partial denture for the upper or lower jaw, need two partial dentures for the upper and lower jaw or need complete dentures.

What to Know About Lab Fees

There may also be a lab fee cost on your bill. This cost covers the process of making the dentures and may or may not be on your bill. It will depend on the dental lab your dentist uses. Lab fees can be anywhere between $100-$250. These prices are not discounted because they are third party charges in which the dentist can incur.

Ask your dentist if you will incur the additional cost of the crown being made and how much that will be so you are informed beforehand.
